Why I Built RoutineGuide
Every habit tracker I tried felt like a solo experience. You’d set up your morning routine, check off a few boxes, and… that was it. No one cheered you on. No one noticed when you broke your streak. It was just you and an app.
I wanted something different.
The problem
Most habit trackers focus on the what — what habits to track, what streaks to maintain, what stats to review. But they miss the who. Research consistently shows that social accountability is one of the strongest drivers of behavior change. We’re far more likely to stick with a habit when someone else is watching.
The approach
RoutineGuide is built around a simple idea: habits are better together.
- Routines, not just habits. Group your actions into morning, afternoon, and evening routines with timers and guidance.
- Friends, not just stats. Connect with people who share your goals. See their progress. Cheer them on.
- Apple-native, not cross-platform. Built with SwiftUI and CloudKit for the best possible experience on iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
- Privacy-first. Your data lives in your iCloud. No analytics. No tracking. No ads.
What’s next
RoutineGuide is free on the App Store and actively developed. Here’s what’s coming:
- Community routine templates — discover and share routines with the world
- Groups — create communities around shared goals
- More insights and analytics
I’d love your feedback. Download the app and let me know what you think.
